Rothwald - Christmas Eve 2009

On Christmas Eve, as a small custom, dedicated to an excursion with snowshoes, because it is one of those days where there is hardly anyone around, they are all busy with preparations for the next day.

This year, given the heavy snowfall, the choice of destination was apparently very large, but the danger of avalanches (a 3 / 4 across the Piedmont), made us opt for a safe place Rothwald .

Rothwald is located a few kilometers after the Simplon Pass in Switzerland, and is a very nice place: great woods find beautiful wooden chalets, higher then the spaces are huge, with grasslands the eye and always in the background, the beautiful shapes of the "four to act as guardians of the Valais.

The amount of snow fall is incredible, it makes all the magnificent landscape, creating waves of considerable height. Our goal is waiting for us, and we continue in silence, trying to enjoy this wonder at every step.
